Rom 3:21-24 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

In 1985 I attended my first charismatic service with a neighbor and there heard the story of the prodigal son. As a child I had heard the story before but this time was different. This time the words actually pierce my heart and I saw that I was the prodigal. I realized that I had left my heavenly Father and was living a life of sin. I also understood that He was waiting for me to return, not to punish my disobedience but to restore the relationship that we were intended to have. The service closed with an altar call and I accepted His invitation to come home. I accepted that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross 2000 years ago paved the way for me to return home. This song celebrates that decision I made nearly 20 years ago to follow Jesus.
